SOAR - Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration

General Information

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) will be available to meet with students during SOAR. Students who are interested in receiving educational accommodations for fall 2009 are strongly encouraged to visit our website prior to coming to campus and should contact our front office @ (805) 756-1395 to clarify the application process and or to arrange for appointments.

DRC’s activities during SOAR include:

– Meeting with students one on one for scheduled intake appointments
– Daily drop-in hours: 10-noon for Freshmen & 12:30-2:30 for Transfer Students
– An information booth at the Resource Fair
– A stop on the student Campus Resource Tours
– Parent Panels

Students With Disabilities

Students who are interested in receiving educational accommodations in fall 2009 and thereafter are strongly encouraged to visit the DRC Website prior to attending SOAR and should contact the DRC office at (805) 756-1395 to clarify the application process and/or to arrange for appointments.

Soar Accommodations

Students or guests with disabilities may request accommodations in advance by contacting the Disability Resource Center at (805) 756-1395. Services such as Sign-Language Interpreting or use of Assistive Listening Systems require generous advance notice— at least 2 weeks is greatly appreciated.

Parking

Visitors to Cal Poly displaying a valid disabled placard or license plates issued by the DMV are required to obtain a complimentary disabled parking pass. The complimentary parking pass can be obtained at the Grand Avenue Visitor Information Center and the University Police Department.

On-campus transportation

Eligible students or guests with mobility impairments may request tram/van service in advance by contacting DRC at 756-1395. Please be aware that summer classes will be in session, and our ability to provide “on-demand” services is limited. Generous advance notice is greatly appreciated.
