Run to Remember
Dear Potential Runner,
Every year, Cal Poly's Safer commemorates the loss of past students Kristin Smart, Rachel Newhouse, and Cuesta College student Aundria Crawford. The event is called Run to Remember. We use this time to remember and honor all survivors of sexual assault. The 2012 Run to Remember will be taking place on October 24, 2012 at 5 p.m.!
Before running, you will need to fill out the registration form (found below), including reading and initialing the waiver.
There is a $5 registration fee for participation, which may be paid with cash or checks. Please make checks out to Cal Poly Safer. Please bring your completed form and $5 to the Check-In/Registration Table. You will be given your race number at this time. Registration may also be done ahead of time by bringing the completed form and $5 to the Gender Equity Center, University Union Room 217.
All proceeds support Cal Poly’s Safer program and the San Luis Obispo County’s Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention (SARP) Center. Cal Poly Safer's and the SARP Center’s objectives lie in providing crisis counseling to survivors of sexual assault, as well as to their friends and family members. In addition to offering crisis counseling, these centers educate the community about sexual assault in hopes to eliminate violence. There will be live music, speakers including San Luis Obispo mayor, Jan Marx, and Cal Poly ASI President, Katie Morrow, as well as spoken word performers and more.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at kpalme02@calpoly.edu . Thank you for your interest and support, we look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Katy Palmer
